ELA: We have now finished the novel, Touching Spirit Bear, and are moving to Essay Writing.
We will have a final Test on Monday Jan 27th. This is also the date that the final task is due.
9 Math
We continue to work on linear equations with fractions and
decimals. Students have been learning methods to simplify and solve equations. Distributive
property is also now part of the equations they are solving. Khanacademy.org is
a great site for students to learn or review material.
9 Science
Students have finished watching the movie Gattaca. They’ve
made notes for and against genetic modification of unborn children and will
have a debate on this topic early next week. They were randomly assigned to one
of four groups (strongly for, slightly for, slightly against or strongly
against). The follow up assignment is called: Designer Babies: Should we allow
human genetic modification to unborn children. They are to pick one of the
standpoints and make the best argument they can to support their view. This
will be completed in written format.
